Try to reinstall from scratch, after removing everything and running ccleaner or a registry cleaner to get rid of everything, and make sure you are using a legit copy of the game in CD or DVD format.

It sounds like something went wrong with the installation process where you need to completely uninstall, clean your registry and start again, or you are using a cracked version of the game.
